# Integer and Fraction Hangman

This game tests vocabulary that comes up whenever Grade 7 students add, subtract, multiply, and divide positive and negative numbers, and positive fractions and decimal numbers ([Outcome](https://goa-cc-uat-aili-app-001.azurewebsites.net/explore/node/20891), [Outcome](https://goa-cc-uat-aili-app-001.azurewebsites.net/explore/node/20871)). You will guess words connected to how integers behave under the four operations ([Skills](https://goa-cc-uat-aili-app-001.azurewebsites.net/explore/node/20875), [Skills](https://goa-cc-uat-aili-app-001.azurewebsites.net/explore/node/20879), [Knowledge](https://goa-cc-uat-aili-app-001.azurewebsites.net/explore/node/20877)), what a negative number is and how the minus sign can mean two different things ([Knowledge](https://goa-cc-uat-aili-app-001.azurewebsites.net/explore/node/20873)), and how fractions divide and multiply using reciprocals and common denominators ([Knowledge](https://goa-cc-uat-aili-app-001.azurewebsites.net/explore/node/20897), [Knowledge](https://goa-cc-uat-aili-app-001.azurewebsites.net/explore/node/20893)). One word also names the step-by-step method, or algorithm, used to multiply and divide decimal numbers ([Knowledge](https://goa-cc-uat-aili-app-001.azurewebsites.net/explore/node/20901)).

## How to play

Each puzzle shows a row of blank spaces, one for each letter in a hidden word. Below the blanks is a scoreboard for tracking wrong guesses.

Work through the puzzles in order. Say or write one letter at a time.

If the letter appears in the word, fill it into every blank where it belongs.

If the letter does not appear, mark one strike on the scoreboard. Most hangman games allow six or seven strikes before the round ends, so agree on a limit with your partner or group before you start.

Keep a list of letters you have already guessed so you do not repeat one by accident.

A puzzle is solved when every blank is filled in, or lost when you reach the strike limit. Either way, move on to the next word.

Use the topic hint above each puzzle to narrow down possibilities. These words come from the number strand: think about positive and negative values, parts of a fraction, and the operations that connect them.
