# Letters and Sounds Crossword

Grade 1 readers learn how letters and sounds work together to build words ([Topic](https://goa-cc-uat-aili-app-001.azurewebsites.net/explore/node/44867), [Outcome](https://goa-cc-uat-aili-app-001.azurewebsites.net/explore/node/44869)). This game uses eight words from that work: READ, SHAPE, SOUND, SILENT, WRITE, UPPER, WORD, and LETTER. Some words connect to shapes and upper case letters students first met in Kindergarten ([Details](https://goa-cc-uat-aili-app-001.azurewebsites.net/explore/node/44711)), and others connect to new Grade 1 ideas, like silent letters and letter-sound matches ([Details](https://goa-cc-uat-aili-app-001.azurewebsites.net/explore/node/44871)).

## How to play

- Read each clue. Its number matches a numbered square in the grid.
- Write one capital letter in each square. There are 3 words across and 5 words down.
- Crossing words share a letter, so check it fits both. The answer key shows the finished grid.
